For the modern person, everyday life isn’t
easy. You’ve got to find time for uni, a part time job or a full time job, a
social life, family, leisure time and even allowing yourself, at the end of it
all, to sleep. Then, throw a daily workout into the mix and it has the
potential to knock the balance right over.
But it can be done, and it can be done in a
way that will leave you with a happier and healthier mindset.
We’ve put together some tips and tricks for
how to fit exercise into your daily life, no matter how busy it may be.
1. Make a schedule and commit
to it.
Organisation and planning
is key here. Many people find that they’ll skip a workout if they had a
particularly busy day at work, or have too much uni work to do. If you need to, schedule a 10-minute workout
into your diary when you can, and stick to it! You’ll thank yourself for it.
2. Work out efficiently
So you’ve given yourself
10 minutes for a workout. Pick a workout that doesn’t require any equipment (or
to go to the gym) that you can do from your own home. YouTube has a range of
short workout tutorials that you can watch and follow online.
Next, figure out what part
of the body you want to work out each day.
Want to work on those abs?
Do a 10-minute ab workout
in your living room on Monday night.
Want to prevent the risk
of heart disease?
Go for a short jog on
Tuesday morning.
3. Use competition as
motivation.
Working out can be social!
Sometimes collaboration is the way to go, and friends are the best source of
motivation when trying to achieve your fitness goals.
Do a friendly competition
with friends, coworkers, or even your family to see who can keep up with daily squat
challenges or who can go jogging the most days in a row.
This can be even more fun
when betting is involved.
4. Be realistic
In order for this to work,
you need to be able to cater to your own likes and dislikes. You hate running,
but don’t mind a bit of yoga in the morning? That’s ok! You need to be
disciplined for this to work, but you also need to know your body and know what
works for you.
5. Choose something over
nothing
You’ve come home from a long
day – exhausted, and doing a workout is the absolute last of your priorities.
But you don’t need an hour for a workout to be effective. Even 7 minutes can be
effective! Try to find a quiet moment for yourself to workout and start small.
Even a small amount of time can do wonders for the mind and for the body.
